Frequently Asked Question – Parent Education Courses

Here are the answers to frequently asked questions about our Parent Education courses. If we haven’t answered your question, or you would like more information, please contact us.

Can I attend ‘Baby and You’ prior to my baby arriving?

Baby and You is a course taken after your baby is born. It is aimed to build on the skills that you have developed through your Practical Parenting class during child birth education and the first few weeks at home with baby.  It is a time for problem solving and discussion focussing specifically on the needs of you and your baby, things that you may notice arising and changing as your little one establishes themselves into some patterns past the 6 week mark.

Where is West Auckland Parents Centre?

West Auckland Parents Centre does not have a permanent premise. We are a volunteer organisation run by parents for parents. We run Child birth Education courses and Parent Education courses in a range of community centres in West Auckland.

How do I pay for my course?

You will be sent an account number into which you can deposit your course fee at the time of booking. Please provide your surname and course name as reference.

Is it ok to bring my baby with me to the course?

Absolutely!  Just bring everything with you that you need for the morning to carry on with caring for your child.

When should I book for a parent education course?

We suggest that you book early to avoid disappointment as our courses often fill well in advance.

I would like to bring my partner or a friend for support, is this ok?

Partners and support people are welcome on all of our course,  we ask that you notify us at the time of booking so that we can allow room for them to attend.  In some instances there may be an extra charge for a support person to attend with you.
